Walk a day in my shoes!

Walk a day in my shoes, if you want to know how it feels!

Ahhh what I would give to be able to spend a week or just a day, without excessively sweating from my hands and feet.

When it’s really humid outside, my hands can sweat so much to the point where my fingers start swelling. And if that happens, I just have to find somewhere to wash my hands and give it a few minutes to dry back to normal. Unlike my hands, I cannot just keep going to the public restroom to wash my feet. Quite often, choosing my outfit of the day revolves around which shoes I will be able to wear. Depending on where I’m going and how I will get there, be it by public transport, driving or walking. The further I have to walk, the more comfortable I need my shoes to be – and by comfortable, I mean it has to be flat and closed shoes, not open-toe. Open-toe shoes are the absolute worse. Why?? Picture this, it may be very graphic or disgusting to some but this is my reality and that of many others… You take a shower, you have dry skin and you need some body lotion in order to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. No one likes to see that ashy skin looking like you’ve walked the whole Sahara desert. Now you wear those open-toe shoes or heels and you start walking. It’s hot and humid so you’re mixing that sweat with the oil from the body lotion and your toes start slipping out, trying to kiss the ground at every step. Try walking with shoes or heels like that for at least half an hour in your backyard, your driveway (even better if your driveway is not entirely flat). If you try it I can guarantee you will be cursing at yourself at least every 3 to 5 minutes.

This is not even the worst part: wearing actual closed shoes and they start slipping as I walk because the river is flowing inside. There are good days where I’m able to wear sandals and make it through the day without having a couple meltdowns because I’ve chosen to wear the wrong shoes. Those are very rare, extremely rare that it does not feel normal, like something is wrong because I’m so used to it and expecting it to happen.

Since my feet sweat so much, it’s hard to really find that one good pair of shoes that you can wear every day without a fear of it slipping. I can find these shoes at Ardene; this store has been my lifesaver. They always have great discounts so I’ll buy all my flat shoes and sneakers there. Sometimes 6 pairs at a time, multiple colors and I alternate them every day to allow them to dry after a long day of walking.

There may be other places where I can find such comfortable shoes without paying an arm and a leg but in the meantime, that is all I have. I also loved Payless Bogo Shoes but they no longer exist and I regret not taking advantage of it when it was around.

Walk a day in my shoes!!!! Then tell me how it feels…..

It’s snack time again, I’ll be back…..

Until then, BE KIND!

  1. I was reading you and guess what, girl I think I just found a place where I can improve my English. Lol. How the hell are you able to write a whole English and captivable blog when English is not your first language? Giiirrrll, congratulations!

And I think the reverse side is also full of struggles. I mean, having dry hands and ashy feet (which is closer to my situation) is kind of big deal too. But of course, not comparatively to hyperhidrolidis

    1. Hahaha it took years of practice and English immersion darling! Very dry skin is a big issue indeed, however you have many ressources available like body butter and moisturizing lotion etc… In my case on the other hand , it’s Botox injections or surgery.
